BEAUTY TIPS | How to help your skin survive party season

At this crazy busy time of year, it’s easy to fall out of routine.

Meals out, late nights and over-indulging in food and booze are all par for the course during the party season. It’s no wonder that our skin woes reach a peak at this time!

Dry patches, dull complexion and breakouts are all signs of partied-out skin that needs a little extra TLC.

Here's how to keep your skin looking fresh this festive season.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is one of THE MOST effective ways to look and feel better, yet it's often one of the most underrated. Staying hydrated keeps your skin nourished, inside and out. It also makes wrinkles far less prominent- most of the time fine lines are just a sign you need more water.

With xmas just around the corner- the most dehydrating time of year- start getting in more water now on the reg, your body will thank you for it! Hydrate between alcoholic drinks by alternating water with alcohol and always have a huge glass of water before you go to bed after a night out to help your internal hydrating processes along while you sleep.

Get enough sleep

It’s important that any sleep you do get (however little) is as well rested as possible.

Contrary to popular belief, a night cap won’t help you get a better night’s sleep, in fact you may miss out on Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, skipping out the vital cycles that keep us feeling refreshed and energized come sunrise.

To help get some more zzzzz's in, take an arvo nap when possible, or try sleeping in one or two days if you can, even if it's only by 15 minutes. While it might be tempting to get up and at 'em early in order to conquer your to do list, making sleep a higher priortity than your chores will result in you feeling more recharged and able to take on more as a result of being better rested and having greater energy levels. Soeitmes impossible with kids, but hey, worth trying if you can sneak in a efw extra mintes.

Commit to good sleep hygiene habits too to get the most out of your sleep. At bedtime, try some sleep gummies to help you get to sleep if you're prone to stress-induced insomnia. Spritz your room and pillow with a claming spray that's essential -oil based, and keep the room quiet, dark, and device-free! Avoid screens in the 30-60 minutes before bed time if you can. Try a sound machine to get you to sleep and slip on a silk eye mask to block out any light and soothe your body back into sleep while avoiding any disturbances during the night.

Eat (or drink) your greens

Its true, we're not always eating at our best our best during the festive season. Hello copius extra amounts of sugar, salt and fat!

If you find yourself not eating nearly as much veg as you normally would, supplementing your diet with clean natural supplements can help boost your immunity and your energy levels.

A clean green supplement can help keep your body’s defenses ready and strong. Look for something that's choockers with nutrient dense plant foods; they're high in antioxidants helping to alkalize, oxygenate, mineralize and detoxify the body. A must during party season.

Eat foods that make your skin happy

Good skin really does come from a healthy gut and the more skin-friendly your diet, the more you’ll glow throughout Christmas.

Opt for oily fish like salmon at main courses, carrots and celery as snacks and lots of nuts, berries, tomatoes and leafy greens. All rich in good fats and antioxidants.

Don’t miss out completely because, after all, Christmas only comes once a year. But where you can, swap out processed foods and refined sugars as these can have an ageing effect on the skin.

Keep up your skincare - and make sure you take your makeup off at the end of the day

Flare-ups and lack luster skin are common during this time of year, but if you make some time to keep up with a simple skin routine, glow won’t be too far away.

We suggest not going overboard on the amount of product you use on your skin during this busy time of year.

Some staples include a good quality facial oil or a powerful serum to ensure your skin is moisturized and healthy. For an instantaneous glow simply pat onto clean skin until all the nutrients are fully absorbed.

An exfoliating treatment is great for instant radiance – a secret weapon in our arsenal. Simply apply to the face and neck in upward circular motions. We recommend an exfoliating cream or lotion infused with glycolic acid, a powerful alpha hydroxy acid that that helps cell stimulation, ‘melting’ away dead skins cells revealing new healthy skin beneath.

And PRETTY please- ALWAYS wash your makeup off at the end of the day! We know the last thing you want to do after a Christmas party is wash your face, and while it’s easier to give it a miss, you’ll find that leaving your makeup on can come with some unwanted skin conditions. Skimping on cleansing can leave your skin dry, irritated and prone to break outs.

If you don't have time to cleanse before bed, keep some unscented gentle makeup remover wipes by your bedside so you can at least get most of it off!

Remember, refreshed, nourished and hydrated skin will give you that glowing from within look and ensure that your skin is the least of your concerns this holiday season. Get ready to glow, gurl!
