SHE'S A KILLER QUEEN | Ange Hammond from Resonant Imagery

Updated: May 7

A little while ago I had the pleasure of working with the gorgeous Ange from Resonant Imagery for a branding shoot with the one and only Sophoe from @sisterscoutstudio

Ange is a talented web designer who loves working with businesses to showcase their services. Using WordPress, she can help to bring your business to life online and attract more of the clients you want to work with. She really listens to her clients to ensure a website that they are proud to show to the world, that’s fully functional, and visible on Google.

I had such a great time hanging out with Ange and chatting business and life before her shoot. I was really impressed by how super organised she was for her shoot with props, multiple thoughtful wardrobe changes, and a thorough shot list all figured out. It was a pleasure working with her to give her a fresh, natural but polished look for her new branding photos. I also got a little excited as I ALWAYS do when I meet a client who has natural curls, and who wants tobring them out to play! Have I ever mentioned how much I ADORE curls??! BEST!

Here Ange gives us some tips on how she gets organised, how investing in herself has paid off, and the felixibility that running her own show has afforded her.

How long have you been doing what you do?

I’ve been designing and building websites for over 10 years and my business has changed a lot since I left launched Resonant Imagery. It wasn’t until I moved to Melbourne in 2015 that I really started to take it to the next level. Being surrounded by so many inspiring creatives and passionate business owners has helped so much.

Have you got any hacks or tips/apps/ etc that make your business life more organised/ streamlined/ less manic? ie how do you keep your shit in order?

Trello! For the past few years I’ve used Trello to organise client projects and also life in general. I love how it enables clients to visually see where we’re at with their website and it’s such a great platform to house all of the project bits and pieces, such as photos, documents and comments. So much better than having everything in your inbox.

I now use Acuity Scheduling for managing client appointments, website tutorials and phone calls. So much time can get spent trying to work out when you are both available. This app allows clients to choose a time when they know I’m free. So easy for everyone involved!

What’s the best thing about having your own business?

I love the flexibility that I get with having my own business. Sure the work needs to get done, but I can manage my time around this. If it’s hot and sunny during the week, I’ll take the time to enjoy it. I was never good at pretending to work at 3pm in a 9 to 5 job!

I also love that all I need to work is my laptop and a good internet connection. Because of this, I’m able to work just about anywhere. I can launch websites from the comfort of my home, at my coworking space or at a beachside apartment.

What’s been BIG for you in 2019?

I’ve invested in my business a lot this year. And I’m already seeing the benefits of this. I have concentrated on the bigger picture by seeing a business coach (Ami at Craft Coaching & Development) and that led me to change up some of my systems to be more streamlined. I now spend a lot less time on admin as a result.
