MAKEUP TIPS | Before you do an eye look, STOP and read this

Updated: Oct 24, 2019

One of the most common questions I get from clients is why their day-to-day eye makeup just doesn't last. I've heard it all: from eyeshadow sliding down your face once the temperature soars, to eyeliner disappearing and mascara smudging into a hot black mess.

So, in aid of fixing this age-old conundrum, I've dedicated this post to our friend, the eye primer. Using an eye primer is one of the most simple makeup techniques you can employ that really makes a difference!

So WHY do I need an eye primer, you ask?

Primer helps eye shadow adhere to the eyelid, and makes it easier to blend. Our eyelids are naturally quite greasy so makeup wants to slide off them. Think of primer as like putting down a base coat.

Priming the eyes helps makeup stay in place, so if you need it to last all day and all night without touching up, you need to prep first.

Priming the eye prevents creasing amd smudging, which happens because the eyelids move around so much.

Priming evens any discoloration for a flawless-looking lid

Whatever look you're sporting, you'll want to use a primer specially formulated for the eyelids. Don't reach for your regular face primer- it has vastly different ingredients and serves a different purpose, and you'll find it won't work for eyes.
